Plagiarism and Academic Integrity Policy

The Dibon Journal of Business (DJB) maintains rigorous standards to ensure the originality and integrity of all published work. This policy outlines our procedures, requirements, and consequences regarding plagiarism and academic misconduct.

1. Plagiarism Definition and Types
- Direct copying of text, figures, or data
- Paraphrasing without proper attribution
- Self-plagiarism (recycling previous work)
- Translation plagiarism
- Ideas plagiarism
- Data fabrication or manipulation

2. Similarity Guidelines
- Acceptable similarity index: less than 20%
- Exclusions from similarity index:
- References section
- Standard methodology descriptions
- Common terminology
- Previously published abstracts by same authors
- Each source similarity should not exceed 3%

3. Detection Procedures
- Initial screening using Turnitin
- Manual review by editorial team
- Cross-reference checking
- Figure and data originality verification
- Citation verification

4. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Declaration - MANDATORY

All authors must include ONE of the following declarations in their manuscript:

Option 1 - AI Tools Used: "The authors declare that the final content of this manuscript represents the sole intellectual efforts and original contributions of the authors. The authors used [AI tool name, e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Grammarly AI] for [specific purpose: grammar checking/language polishing/literature search/brainstorming/etc]. All AI-generated content was thoroughly reviewed, fact-checked, and substantially revised by the authors to ensure accuracy, originality, and adherence to academic standards."

Option 2 - No AI Tools Used: "The authors declare that no artificial intelligence tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript. The final content represents the sole intellectual efforts and original contributions of the authors."

Declaration Requirements:

  • Must be included in the manuscript before submission or during copyediting
  • Should be placed in the acknowledgments section or as a separate "AI Declaration" section
  • Authors selecting Option 1 must specify:
    • Exact AI tool names used
    • Specific purposes for each tool
    • Confirmation of human review and revision
  • False declarations will be treated as academic misconduct

AI Usage Guidelines:

  • Permitted uses: Literature search assistance, language editing, grammar checking, data analysis support, reference formatting, brainstorming
  • Prohibited uses: Content generation, analysis interpretation, discussion writing, conclusion formulation
  • AI tools cannot be listed as co-authors
  • Authors remain fully responsible for all content accuracy
